The third Qualifying Tournament
of Alabama Bass Federation Inc, 2008 season was
held1-3 May out of Lakeside State Park, Lake Eufaula,
Eufaula, Alabama. Tournament practice day reports by
federation anglers indicated that the bites came slow
making fishing tough. On tournament day, 3 May, the
start of the tournament was weather perfect: however,
about three hours into the day the conditions changes
to high winds and at times heavy rains.

Following the presentations of their catches to the
scales the federation angler with the top weight was
James (Jim) Boyle, of B f Goodrich Bass Angler with a
5 fish limit, with a weight of 15.34 pounds. Mark D.
Baker of Carbon Hill Bass Club was second with a limit
weighing 13.78; Sam Russell of Prattville Bass Anglers
with a weight of 13.51 was third; Kevin (Ship) Jackson
of The Eufaula Head Hunters was forth with a weight
of 13.04 pounds and Rusty Burroughs of Neely Henry
Bass Club was fifth with a weight of 12.15
pounds.

Joe Buchanan, Kevin (Skip) Jackson, David J. Pair,
Don Reeves and Jimmy Williams of The Eufaula
Head Hunters claimed the top team honors with a
cumulative weight of 38.34 pounds.

Big fish for the tournament was presented by Mark
D. Baker, of Carbon Hill Bass Club with a weight of
7.32 pounds.
Top finishing non-boater was David S. Kelly of
Tri-Co Bass Club with a weight of 10.63.
One Hundred fifty anglers have now qualified for
the 2008 Alabama Bass Federation Inc, State
Championship Tournament. A weight of at least 2.73
pounds was needed at this tournament to qualify for
the State Championship Tournament.
Next Qualifying Tournament is 5-7 June 2008, Lake
Guntersville, Scottsboro, AL. The pursuit for Alabama
Bass Federation 2008 Angler of the Year continues with
Rusty Burroughs currently in the leading.
