Rusty Burroughs, of Jacksonville, AL wins spot to
represent Alabama in the TBF/FLW Nationals.
Alabama Bass Federation’s 12 man state team
competed during the Southern Division on Lake Norman in Cornelius,
NC. The members of the team fished for three days competing for two
spots to represent Alabama at The Bass Federation/FLW Nationals next
April. The location has not been disclosed because there are other
Divisional tournaments to be held this year.

The team members representing Alabama were in
order of finish Rusty Burroughs, Jacksonville, AL with 26 pounds 5
oz.; Kenny Pannell, Springville, AL with 22 pounds 10 oz.; Tony
Tarver, Wagarville, AL with 20 pounds 12 oz.; Ricky Trammell, Reform,
AL with 18 pounds 12 oz; Jerry Dunn, Elkmont, AL with 17 pounds 6 oz.;
Clay Morris, Jackson, AL with 16 pounds 13 oz.; Scap Cicero, Wetumpka,
AL with 14 pounds 8 oz.; Brent Robinson, Mobile, AL with 12 pounds 12
oz.; Jerry Davis, Bay Minette, AL with 10 pounds 6 oz.; Timmy Walker,
Andalusia, AL with 10 pounds 2 oz.; Chris Newell, Phil Campbell, AL
with 6 pounds 3 oz.; and John Calhoun, Alpine, AL with 4 pounds 12 oz.
Rusty started in first place on day one and never
looked back. He concentrated on fishing the shady parts of docks and
any other locations where a little shade would protect the Bass with
temperatures over 100 each day. The docks with Styrofoam flotation
was the key to holding fish according to Rusty. Rusty was throwing a
Spotsticker jig head with a SS Magic worm and a Bo’s jig green pumpkin
color tipped with Zoom green pumpkin chunk.

Rusty Burroughs will represent Alabama on the
Angler side at the Bass Federation Nationals and Kenny Pannell will be
the co-angler. Both will be competing for a chance to fish the FLW
All American and the FLW World Championship next year. Both fishermen
have moved to the next level of competition by finishing number one
and two on the 2008 Alabama Bass Federation State Team.

Clay Morris had big fish of the first day of the
three day tournament.
