Alabama Bass Federation, Inc., conducted a Junior / High School Tournament on Lake Guntersville, Goose Pond, Scottsboro, AL on 1/28/2017. Junior and High School anglers representing Cedar Bluff, North Sand Mountain, Ft Payne, Spring Valley, Plainview, Indian Springs, Gardendale, Fairview Sand Rock and Sylvania participated in the tournament. These angler and boat captains braved the chilly morning start and endured the high winds during day.
At the end of the tournament day the Junior Angler Division was unable to present a measurable fish to the scale. However, that was not the circumstances for the High Scholl Division.
In the High School Division, the team of Colin McCullough and Jake Cagle of Cedar Bluff High School took a demanding lead with a limit of fish with a weight of 28.09 lbs. Colin and Jake commented that they did not have that many bites during the, but their swimming jig presentation paid off with quality fish, Finishing in second place was the team of Riley Johnson and Jayden Culpepper of North Sand Mountain High School with 13.04, third was Connor Schrader and will Abernathy of Ft Payne Wildcats Fishing Team with 13.03; fourth is Nelson Poore and Noah Higdon of North Sand Mountain High School with 12.05. Finishing out the top five is team of Eli Denny and Noah Garnett of Fairview High School with 10.14.
Next tournament 5 March, Lake Wheeler, Joe Wheeler State Park.
